The Little owl is not native to England or UK . It was introduced to the lake 19 th century. The Little owl is just 8 ½ inches tall and weighs 140-225g it is the smallest owl in the UK .

The owl lives of insects, small mammals, birds and worms.

The owl will nest on most any were from hollow limbs of tree and farm buildings to rabbit burrows and low altitude grassland areas.

The little owl start breeding in April to May they will lay 3-5 egg which are white. It takes approx 28-29 day for the egg to hatch.

The little owl will only use a well-designed nest box. A nest box should be put a minimum height of 7 feet above ground

The best time to see the Little owl is dusk but some time you can see them in the day.

Inside the box you can place wood chips and sand for nest material.

At the end of each breeding season it is sensible to clean out the box with a specialist disinfectant i.e. Vicron
