Elmo is a male common buzzard he is captive breed and came to us from an owner who was scared of him and said he was a very aggressive bird. This was not true it was the inexperience of the owner that caused Elmo to have no confidence in the gentlemans caperbilities.Our 14 year old son who was trained to handle birds took the bird from him and brought him close to the body and was able to throughly examine him with no problems. Elmo has been with us for over 10 years and is very settled with only one problem he refuses to fly in front of an audiance. 
Buzzards are very common in the UK and can been seen flying in most open countryside. We tend to get a number of wild buzzards in each year 90% of which are released where come they from.
